ATOMIC Hawx Magna 90

ATOMIC Hawx Magna 90 are men's all-mountain ski boots with a wide fit, combining excellent comfort, stable support and easy handling for recreational and more sporty skiing. With a flex index of 90 and a 102 mm last width, they are an ideal choice for skiers with wider feet or higher-volume feet who need extra room without sacrificing precise ski control. The model belongs to the Hawx Magna range, designed to provide a comfortable fit for wider feet and versatile performance on the slopes. These boots are suitable for intermediate and advanced skiers who prefer relaxed skiing but occasionally want to increase their speed and enjoy more dynamic turns.

The construction is based on Prolite technology combined with a polyurethane PU Shell / PU Cuff construction and Hawx Geometry. Prolite uses strategically positioned reinforcements in the most heavily stressed areas of the shell, helping achieve the necessary stability and strength without unnecessary material. The polyurethane construction supports smooth energy transfer and predictable boot performance under pressure. The wider Wide Width / High Volume (HV) last provides additional room around the foot, while the four-buckle closure system with 6000-Series Aluminium Buckles allows precise adjustment of the fit.

Comfort is provided by the Select Bronze Liner featuring Fully Heat Moldable, Hawx Fixed Tongue and 3D Stretch Toe Box technologies. The heat-moldable construction allows the liner to be individually adapted to the skier's foot, while the stable tongue supports consistent contact and the flexible toe area creates a more comfortable environment for the toes. Another important feature is Energy Link, which supports the functional connection between the shell and cuff for efficient energy transfer. Adaptive Fit System (AFS) Cuff allows adjustment of the space around the calf, while Dual-Sided Cuff Alignment provides lateral cuff adjustment according to the skier's leg anatomy.

A practical advantage is the AMT GripWalk Grip Pads compliant with the GripWalk ISO 23223 standard, making walking without skis more comfortable. Weighing 1,702 g per boot in size 26/26.5, with a 15° forward lean and a 4° ramp angle, ATOMIC Hawx Magna 90 offer a balanced combination of comfort, support and sporty functionality. They are an excellent option for skiers looking for roomy, easy-to-control and reliable ski boots for full days on the mountain in varying conditions.

Who Are These Ski Boots Designed For?

ATOMIC Hawx Magna 90 are primarily designed for skiers with wider feet who require a more spacious fit, secure foot retention and sufficient support when skiing on groomed slopes. The 90 flex provides a comfortable balance between flexibility and sporty stiffness, allowing both relaxed skiing and more active turn control. The 102 mm last belongs to the High Volume category and is particularly suitable for skiers who find conventional narrow or medium-width boots too restrictive.

These ski boots are ideal for skiers who:

  • are looking for high-quality men's or unisex all-mountain ski boots

  • have wider feet or higher-volume feet

  • need a roomier 102 mm last

  • prefer the Wide Width / High Volume (HV) fit category

  • want to combine comfort with reliable sporty support

  • prefer a versatile flex index of 90

  • mainly ski on groomed slopes

  • alternate between relaxed cruising and more dynamic turns

  • want stable ski control without an excessively stiff shell

  • need lasting comfort throughout a full day of skiing

  • appreciate the strategically reinforced Prolite construction

  • prefer a polyurethane PU Shell / PU Cuff design

  • want a comfortable Select Bronze Liner

  • value the possibility of heat molding the inner liner

  • appreciate additional toe comfort provided by 3D Stretch Toe Box

  • want the stable Hawx Fixed Tongue construction

  • prefer a precise and reliable four-buckle closure system

  • appreciate durable 6000-Series Aluminium Buckles

  • need to adapt the cuff to their calf shape using AFS Cuff

  • value the possibility of lateral cuff alignment

  • want efficient energy transfer supported by Energy Link

  • prefer GripWalk soles for more comfortable walking

  • are looking for versatile boots for regular recreational and sporty skiing

The model is particularly suitable for skiers who want to avoid excessive pressure around their feet while maintaining confidence and control when steering their skis. The combination of a wide shell, heat-moldable liner and adjustable cuff features provides excellent opportunities for individual fit optimization.

How Do These Ski Boots Perform on the Slopes?

On groomed slopes, ATOMIC Hawx Magna 90 provide comfortable, stable and easily controlled support. The 90 flex allows natural forward pressure against the cuff and helps with both initiating and maintaining turns. Compared with stiffer performance-oriented models, these boots are more forgiving, which benefits skiers who prefer smooth skiing without excessive physical effort.

During carving turns and changes of direction, the polyurethane shell with Prolite technology provides sufficient structural strength and efficient transmission of movements to the skis. Four aluminium buckles and the 35mm Velcro Strap help keep the foot securely positioned inside the boot. This allows the skier to work more precisely with the ski edges and maintain better control throughout each turn.

During faster or more sporty skiing, Energy Link contributes to the functional connection between the shell and cuff, supporting smooth energy transfer. The 90 flex provides sufficient support for regular sporty skiing, although it is not intended to replace significantly stiffer racing boots under extreme loads.

Another major advantage is comfort during long days on the mountain. The wide 102 mm last provides additional room, the Select Bronze Liner allows heat customization, and 3D Stretch Toe Box helps reduce uncomfortable pressure on the toes. AFS Cuff and Dual-Sided Cuff Alignment expand the possibilities for adjusting the upper part of the boot. The result is a versatile ski boot suitable for relaxed cruising and more active skiing in different on-piste conditions.

Understanding the Technical Specifications

Flex Index 90

A flex index of 90 represents a medium-stiff, versatile and sporty ski boot construction. It provides sufficient support for controlled turns while allowing more comfortable cuff movement than significantly stiffer racing models.

It is particularly suitable for recreational and sport-oriented skiers looking for a balance between comfort and performance. The stiffness experienced in practice also depends on the skier's body weight, technique and physical strength.

102 mm Last Width – Wide Width / HV

The 102 mm last width corresponds to the Wide Width / High Volume (HV) category, designed for skiers who need additional space inside their ski boots.

This construction is especially suitable for wider feet or higher insteps. It provides more room than narrow and medium-width performance boots while still allowing secure foot retention when the buckles are correctly adjusted. The 102 mm measurement is nominal, and the actual last width varies with shell size.

Four-Buckle Closure System – 6000-Series Aluminium Buckles

The traditional 4-Buckle Closure System uses four 6000-Series Aluminium Buckles, allowing the closure pressure to be adjusted independently in different areas of the boot.

This system provides reliable retention around the foot, instep and cuff. It is complemented by a 35mm Velcro Strap, which supports consistent contact between the shin and the upper part of the boot.

Weight: 1,702 g / Size 26–26.5

The manufacturer specifies a weight of 1,702 g per ski boot in size 26/26.5.

Actual weight may vary depending on size. Prolite technology helps optimize material distribution while maintaining the structural strength required for reliable skiing performance.

Forward Lean 15° and Ramp Angle 4°

The 15° forward lean influences the position of the lower leg and the skier's basic stance. The 4° ramp angle describes the construction angle of the foot position inside the boot.

Together, these parameters influence balance, pressure management and energy transfer during skiing. They are specified construction values rather than automatically adjustable settings.

Sizes 24/24.5–31/31.5

ATOMIC Hawx Magna 90 are available in Mondopoint sizes from 24/24.5 to 31/31.5.

When choosing the correct size, it is important to consider not only foot length but also width, overall volume and instep height. The wide HV construction is intended for the corresponding foot anatomy and may not be suitable for skiers with narrow feet.

Technologies and Construction

Prolite

Prolite is an Atomic construction technology based on strategically reinforcing the most heavily stressed areas of the shell while efficiently distributing material.

It helps create a strong and stable construction without unnecessary weight. In the Hawx Magna 90, Prolite supports reliable energy transfer and controlled boot performance during recreational and more sporty skiing.

Hawx Geometry

Hawx Geometry refers to the construction geometry of Atomic Hawx ski boots, influencing foot positioning, lower-leg alignment and the transfer of movements to the skis.

Combined with the wide 102 mm last, 15° forward lean and 4° ramp angle, it provides a stable foundation for a versatile skiing stance.

Select Bronze Liner

Select Bronze Liner is an inner boot designed to provide comfortable foot positioning, reliable retention and comfort throughout long skiing days.

It incorporates Fully Heat Moldable, Hawx Fixed Tongue and 3D Stretch Toe Box technologies. Together, these features offer individual fit customization, stable contact with the foot and additional comfort around the toes.

Fully Heat Moldable

Fully Heat Moldable allows professional heat molding of the inner liner according to the skier's individual foot anatomy.

Proper customization can help reduce pressure points, improve contact between the foot and boot, and increase comfort during extended skiing sessions. However, heat molding does not replace choosing the correct shell size.

Hawx Fixed Tongue

Hawx Fixed Tongue is a stable liner tongue construction that supports consistent contact around the instep and front of the shin.

It helps maintain the correct tongue position and contributes to smooth pressure transfer when the skier loads the cuff.

3D Stretch Toe Box

3D Stretch Toe Box uses a more flexible material in the front section of the liner, allowing it to adapt more comfortably to the shape of the toes.

This technology helps create additional comfort in the toe area and is particularly useful during long skiing days when pressure around the toes can become uncomfortable.

Energy Link

Energy Link is a technology designed to support the functional connection between the shell and cuff and promote efficient energy transfer during skiing.

It contributes to smoother interaction between the different parts of the boot under load and helps maintain controlled responses when steering through turns.

Adaptive Fit System (AFS) Cuff

Adaptive Fit System (AFS) Cuff allows the upper cuff to be adapted to different calf shapes and circumferences.

This feature helps optimize comfort, shin contact and stable support. It is particularly beneficial for skiers who need to customize the space around the upper part of the boot.

Dual-Sided Cuff Alignment

Dual-Sided Cuff Alignment allows lateral adjustment of the cuff according to the anatomical alignment of the skier's lower legs.

Correct alignment can contribute to a more natural stance and more even pressure distribution. Adjustment is best performed as part of professional bootfitting.

PU Shell / PU Cuff

PU Shell / PU Cuff refers to the polyurethane shell and polyurethane cuff construction of the ski boot.

This material provides solid structural support, controlled flex behavior and stable energy transfer. Combined with Prolite technology, it creates a reliable foundation for versatile sporty skiing.

4-Buckle Closure System

4-Buckle Closure System is a traditional closure design using four buckles.

It allows the fit around the foot, instep and cuff to be adjusted individually, helping skiers achieve their preferred balance of comfort and secure foot retention.

6000-Series Aluminium Buckles

6000-Series Aluminium Buckles are durable aluminium buckles designed for secure and reliable ski boot closure.

They allow precise adjustment of closure pressure and help maintain a stable foot position throughout skiing.

35mm Velcro Strap

35mm Velcro Strap is a 35 mm wide hook-and-loop strap positioned at the top of the cuff.

It complements the four buckles and helps provide firmer contact between the shin and the boot. The strap allows easy tension adjustment according to individual preferences.

AMT GripWalk Grip Pads / GripWalk ISO 23223

AMT GripWalk Grip Pads are profiled soles that comply with the GripWalk ISO 23223 standard.

They support a more natural rolling motion of the foot and more comfortable walking without skis, such as when moving around a ski resort. For safe use, the boots must be paired with ski bindings compatible with the GripWalk system.
