We come from the Czech Republic, where finding a store which would offer at least one pair of skis/bikes of each style, length, color, type of binding etc. is almost impossible task.

Majority of stores carry these days only incomplete collections of only selected brands. Salesmen in stores are logically trained to sell those brands only therefore you cannot expect an absolutely impartial advice.
