Alpine Skis - Filtering by Price
Does the Price of the Skis Determine Their Quality?
The price of alpine skis shows a lot about the quality of material used and performance of skis. Price is thus an indirect measure in assessing how quality the model is.
We can talk about 3 different categories according to their retail price*:
- The cheapest skis(about CZK 5 000 - 8 000): usually don't have a wood core and a foam is used instead. This means that the ski is formed by injecting the polyurethane foam into the mold. Overall, cheaper technologies and materials are used.
- Medium category skis(CZK 8 000 - 15 000): usually combination of all available materials - wood core, PU foam, Kevlar, titanal, silicon, etc.
- The most expensive ski models(CZK 15,000+): usually made of premium materials - wood and titanal. Wood as a building material of skis has not yet been replaced by anything better.
