LANGE LX 120

The LANGE LX 120 are performance all-mountain ski boots with a 120 flex and a more comfort-oriented 102 mm shell width, designed for skiers who want to combine a high level of control and precision with greater internal volume. The model is based on the LX series concept, combining performance with a more spacious anatomical fit and making it particularly suitable for skiers who do not have enough room in narrower performance boots.

At the heart of the model is DUAL CORE technology, using a shell construction focused on efficient energy transfer, dynamic response and progressive flex. The DUAL 3D LINER PRO is pre-shaped to wrap the foot more precisely, support secure foot retention and work together with the shell to create a more direct connection between the skier and the skis.

Another important characteristic is the specific shape focused on heel support and secure heel retention. As a result, despite its wider 102 mm shell, the boot provides stable foot control and efficient energy transfer. The 120 flex delivers sufficient support for dynamic skiing and higher speeds, while the greater internal volume provides more space than narrower performance and race-oriented constructions.

Who are these ski boots for?

The LANGE LX 120 are men's/unisex all-mountain ski boots for performance-oriented skiers who demand firm support and precise ski control while requiring the additional room of a 102 mm shell.

The model is particularly suitable for more experienced and physically capable skiers who can make effective use of a 120 flex. At the same time, its wider construction allows skiers who find narrower 97–100 mm performance boots too restrictive to benefit from a genuinely performance-oriented setup.

This model is suitable for skiers who:

  • ski dynamically and with a performance-oriented style
  • are looking for all-mountain ski boots
  • require a firmer 120 flex
  • prefer a wider 102 mm shell
  • have wider or higher-volume feet
  • want to combine performance with greater comfort
  • require secure heel retention
  • expect efficient energy transfer into the skis
  • want good lateral support
  • prefer a four-buckle construction
  • are looking for versatile boots for full days of performance skiing
  • do not want to sacrifice performance simply because they need a wider fit

How do the ski boots perform on snow?

The LANGE LX 120 are focused on precise, performance-oriented skiing with firm support under higher loads. The 120 flex provides substantial support when pressure is applied to the cuff and helps maintain stability during dynamic ski control and at higher speeds.

DUAL CORE technology plays an important role here. The shell construction is designed to provide a dynamic response under load and efficiently transfer the skier's energy into the skis. The result is a boot that responds to active skier input and supports precise pressure management throughout the turn.

The 102 mm width simultaneously provides more room for the foot than narrow performance or race models. The LX 120 are therefore aimed at skiers who want performance-level support but whose anatomy or personal preferences require greater internal volume.

On snow, you can expect:

  • firm support from the 120 flex
  • stability at higher speeds
  • efficient energy transfer
  • progressive response under load
  • precise ski control
  • good lateral support
  • secure heel retention
  • controlled pressure management
  • a performance-oriented character without an extremely narrow race fit
  • versatility for full-day all-mountain skiing

How to read the parameters

Flex index 120

The exact flex index of the LANGE LX 120 is 120.

Flex index provides an approximate indication of the resistance a ski boot offers when the skier presses the shin forward against the cuff. A higher value generally means firmer support, a more immediate response under load and greater potential for performance skiing, but it also places higher demands on the skier's strength and technique.

A 120 flex represents a distinctly performance-oriented setup. It is suitable for experienced skiers who can actively load the boot and take advantage of its support during dynamic skiing.

Flex 120 supports:

  • stability under high loads
  • performance-oriented ski control
  • more precise pressure management
  • efficient energy transfer
  • firm cuff support
  • control at higher speeds
  • quick response to skier movements
  • dynamic performance during carving

Flex indexes are not completely standardized between manufacturers. When comparing different models, shell construction, size, temperature and the physical characteristics of the individual skier should also be considered.

102 mm shell width

The LANGE LX 120 have a 102 mm shell width.

This is a more spacious construction than typical narrow performance or race-oriented models. The greater internal volume provides more room for the foot and is particularly suitable for skiers with wider or higher-volume feet.

However, the 102 mm width does not mean that the LX 120 sacrifice their performance character. The construction also focuses on secure heel support, allowing the boot to provide additional room for the foot while maintaining important retention around the rear of the foot.

The 102 mm shell supports:

  • more room for the foot
  • a more comfortable fit for wider feet
  • reduced pressure on sensitive areas when correctly sized
  • a performance-oriented character without an extremely narrow fit
  • secure heel positioning
  • more versatile all-day use
  • a combination of greater volume and precise ski control

Technologies

ALPINE SOLES

ALPINE SOLES refers to conventional alpine soles designed for use with the corresponding alpine ski-binding system.

On the LX 120, they provide a conventional solution for performance alpine skiing. At the same time, the boot construction is designated GRIP WALK COMPATIBLE, expanding the possible sole configurations provided for this model.

When choosing a binding, it is always important to consider the actual type of sole fitted to the specific pair of boots and verify its compatibility with the binding.

DUAL 3D LINER

DUAL 3D LINER is based on a pre-shaped liner construction designed to better correspond to the anatomy of the foot and the internal shape of the shell from the outset.

The LX 120 use the specific DUAL 3D LINER PRO version. Its purpose is to wrap the foot more precisely, stabilize its position and create effective contact between the foot and the shell.

For the skier, this primarily means:

  • a more precise wrap around the foot
  • more stable foot positioning
  • improved heel retention
  • more efficient transfer of movement
  • better contact with the shell
  • a combination of performance precision and comfort
  • support for full-day skiing

DUAL CORE

DUAL CORE is one of the key construction technologies of the LX 120 and focuses on combining dynamic response, controlled flex and efficient energy transfer.

The Dual Core concept uses a shell construction with different characteristics in specific areas so that the boot can respond more progressively under load. Rather than simply creating a rigid shell, the objective is to provide firm support while allowing the construction to respond smoothly to the skier's movements.

During performance skiing, DUAL CORE supports:

  • more progressive flex
  • dynamic response
  • efficient energy transfer
  • more precise pressure management
  • faster boot response
  • stability under higher loads
  • performance-oriented ski control

GRIP WALK COMPATIBLE

GRIP WALK COMPATIBLE means that the construction of the model is designed to accommodate a compatible GripWalk solution.

GripWalk is a sole system designed with an emphasis on more comfortable and natural walking without skis. However, it is important to distinguish between the boot model's compatibility with the system and the actual type of sole fitted to a specific pair.

When GripWalk soles are used, a GripWalk-compatible binding is required.

MAX GRIP

MAX GRIP focuses on improving contact between the sole and the ground when moving without skis.

When walking on snow, around ski lifts or simply moving through a ski resort, sole construction can influence confidence underfoot. MAX GRIP complements the performance character of the LX 120 with a practical feature focused on everyday use away from the skis.

Performance DUAL CORE construction

The LANGE LX 120 are built around DUAL CORE technology, designed to combine the firmness required for performance skiing with a more progressive response under load.

This is particularly important with a 120 flex. The boot needs to provide sufficient support under significant forces while still allowing an experienced skier to work actively with the cuff and progressively manage pressure into the skis.

The construction is also specifically shaped with an emphasis on secure heel support. This is essential for limiting unwanted foot movement and maintaining precision, particularly in a wider 102 mm shell.

The exact flex index is 120, the shell width is 102 mm, and the model uses four buckles. The LANGE LX 120 come from the 2019/2020 season and carry product code N19001216.

DUAL 3D LINER PRO

The LANGE LX 120 are equipped with the DUAL 3D LINER PRO, complementing the performance-oriented shell construction.

Its pre-shaped design helps create more precise contact between the foot and the boot through its fundamental shape. In a 102 mm model, this is particularly important because the greater volume needs to be distributed correctly. The objective is not to create a loose boot, but to provide additional room where the skier needs it while retaining stability around the foot and heel.

The DUAL 3D LINER PRO therefore helps combine two characteristics that can be difficult to achieve simultaneously in performance ski boots: greater internal space and precise ski control.

Four-buckle closure

The LANGE LX 120 use four buckles, allowing the closure of different areas of the shell to be adjusted and the foot to be securely retained.

In a performance boot with a 120 flex, correct closure adjustment is important for both energy transfer and comfort. The objective is not to tighten the boot as much as possible, but to create a firm and even connection between the foot, liner and shell.

The material and exact construction of the buckles are not specified in the supplied information, so no additional properties should be attributed to them.

Secure heel support and a more spacious fit

One of the important construction characteristics of the LX 120 is the combination of a 102 mm width with an emphasis on heel retention.

With wider ski boots, excessive movement of the foot inside the shell can reduce precision. LANGE therefore uses a shape designed to provide more room for the foot while still keeping the heel securely positioned.

This is essential for performance skiing. More secure heel retention helps transfer leg movements into the shell more efficiently, supports lateral control and reduces the loss of precision that could otherwise be associated with greater internal volume.

ALPINE SOLES and GripWalk compatibility

The model combines ALPINE SOLES technology with the GRIP WALK COMPATIBLE designation.

It is therefore important to distinguish between the standard sole configuration and the model's compatibility options. If a particular pair is equipped with alpine soles, a corresponding compatible binding must be used. If a GripWalk configuration is used, the ski binding must also be compatible with GripWalk.

Before use, it is therefore always advisable to verify the actual sole type fitted to the specific pair of boots and its compatibility with the particular binding.

Comparison with narrower performance ski boots

Compared with performance ski boots with widths of approximately 97–100 mm, the LANGE LX 120 provide greater internal space thanks to their 102 mm shell.

This can be a significant advantage for skiers with wider or higher-volume feet who would experience excessive pressure in a narrower performance boot. At the same time, the 120 flex, DUAL CORE technology and emphasis on heel retention allow the LX 120 to maintain a distinctly performance-oriented character.

They are therefore not simply a "soft comfort boot." The LX 120 are performance ski boots for skiers who need greater shell volume but do not want to sacrifice firm support and precise ski control.

Comparison with softer all-mountain ski boots

Compared with softer all-mountain models, the 120 flex provides more substantial support under high loads and a more performance-oriented response.

Softer boots can be less demanding and more comfortable for relaxed skiing, but at higher speeds and under more aggressive loading they may not provide the same level of support. The LX 120 are instead designed for skiers who want a wider fit but can also take advantage of a firmer performance construction.

The combination of 120 flex and 102 mm width is therefore one of the defining characteristics of this model – a high level of support without the need to move into a narrow, race-oriented shell.

Why choose the LANGE LX 120?

The LANGE LX 120 are an excellent option for performance-oriented skiers who need more room for their feet but do not want to compromise on skiing performance. The combination of a 120 flex and 102 mm shell creates a firm, stable and simultaneously more spacious platform suitable for dynamic, full-day skiing.

DUAL CORE technology supports progressive shell performance and efficient energy transfer, while DUAL 3D LINER with the specific DUAL 3D LINER PRO helps wrap the foot more precisely and stabilize its position. ALPINE SOLES, GRIP WALK COMPATIBLE and MAX GRIP complement the construction with practical features related to the sole and movement without skis.

For experienced performance skiers who find narrow high-performance boots too restrictive and are looking for a 120 flex, 102 mm width, secure heel support and precise all-mountain character, the LANGE LX 120 offer a well-balanced combination of performance, control and a more accommodating fit.
