Blizzard is specialized in the manufacturing of alpine skis, based in Mittersill, Salzburg, Austria. The brand now offers not only a range of equipment for skis, but also clothing, nordic walking poles and more.
Blizzard was established in 1945 by Anton Arnsteiner, as he returned home from the second world war, in the family joinery workshop, and started producing skis besides wooden furniture. The Blizzard brand was registered in 1953. In 1954, Blizzard became the first manufacturer to mass-produce polyethylene ski bases. Blizzard´s first expansion occurred in 1957 as well as the introduction of metal and fiberglass as new materials. In 1996 Blizzard introduced its first Carving ski.
Blizzard´s presence on the FIS Alpine World Cup circuit is represented by several racers, including Austrian Reinfried Herbst and Japanese racer Akira Sasaki. As of February 25, 2007, Blizzard placed 10th in the overall World Cup points standings. In 2010, Reinfried Herbst wins on the new Blizzard Ski the Slalom World Cup and gets the small crystal globe.
The 2014 represents very exciting year, with the first Olympic gold metal for Blizzard by Mario Matt in the Olympic Slalom at Sochi and a great victory in the Freeride World Tour by Loic Collomb-Patton.
The Blizzard brand does not only specialize in the production of ski equipment, but also tries to satisfy the needs of every winter enthusiast. In addition to ski poles, downhill or ski-touring skis, you can find complete winter clothing, from hats to winter jackets and pants to socks, functional underwear, gloves, helmets such as ski bags, boots, helmets and other ski and snowboard equipment.
Blizzard is also focusing on the production of very popular trekking and nordic walking sticks after experience with the production of ski and cross-country poles. As well as ski and snowboard goggles, you can also find goggles for bicyclists. The Blizzard brand can boast a wide range of sports products.
